The latest one to really stick out would be Zantrex-3, a weight loss solution that claims to burn off the unwanted inches even without exercise or diet.

Zoller Laboratories are truly proud of their product, and offer a 30 day money back guarantee which isn’t so common with today’s weight loss pills. They actually have done a clinical study on this product which would show that Zantrex-3 really has an effect on weight loss, even without exercise or a proper diet (1). Studies done by supplement companies don’t always show the real picture. Is it the case with this one too, we will see in this review.
Zantrex-3 is primarily made out of proprietary ingredients which we can divide in 2 separate categories. The first category represents the ingredients responsible for weight loss:

There are many other ingredients found in Zantrex-3, but we listed the most important ones which we are going to focus on. Other ingredients of Zantrex-3 are: Green Tea Extract, Black Pepper Extract, Kola, Schizonepeta, Asian Ginseng, Maca Root, Cacao Seed and Black Tea Extract.

Yerba Mate is a concoction made out of leaves and stems which came from the rainforest trees (2).Yerba Mate has many health properties, such as the stimulation and enhancement of the nervous system and muscle activity by its matheine property (a caffeine type). It is a duaretic since it contains xanthine (theobromine, caffeine, and theophylline). Even when consumed in high doses, this extract doesn’t cause side effects such as insomnia which would logically be present (high caffeine content).
Is a widely used stimulant, mostly found in drinks and dietary supplements. Guarana is also commonly used in weight loss/fat loss, and may have some enhancing properties. Studies done on animals suggest that Tannins may help with weight loss by binding proteins and carbohydrates into indigestible forms (4). More studies have to be performed to make this statement crystal clear. Catechins also play the role of Guarana’s bio-active features by enhancing energy expenditure and fat oxidation, just like caffeine. Supposedly they work by inhibiting the enzyme COMT ( catechol-o-methyl) which plays the part in regulating fat, and also prevention of fat digestion. As research goes, the results were only mild benefits of some Guarana components in relation with weight/fat loss (5).
Traditionally used in herbal remedies as a body cleanser in most countires of Central and South America. Damiana leaf is a very complex composition. It includes α-pinene, β-carotene, β-pinene, eucalyptol, tannins and thymol. Damiana is used in various weight loss supplements and can even help with decreased libido and swelling. There is an interesting study published in the early 2000s researching Yerba Mate, Guarana, and Damiana combined. They researched if this combination can make people feel full for a longer period of time. The result was positive, and truly this blend is capable of slowing down the individuals stomach emptying, which would result in a feeling of fullness (6).
We already talked about the countless effects Guarana has on the body. But besides weight loss effects, it has a even greater reaction on the energy levels. With a high concentration of Caffeine this isn’t shocking. More energy allows us to be physically active for longer periods of time resulting in more burned calories.

Another herb which might have an positive effect on depression, fatigue and exercise performance. Only one study has been done on Rhodiola Crenulata in correlation to exercise (7). A different study concerning Rhodiola Crenulata resulted in it’s complete inefficiency (8). Still researchers can not claim that Rhodiola doesn’t have positive properties on exercise performance and energy. More research will be concluded on this extract in the future.
Zantrex-3 has a list of great ingredients. A lot of them have also scientific proof of effectiveness. But still two problems come up when we look at Zantrex-3. The products label doesn’t show clear dosages per capsule which is a big concern. Zantrex-3 might have great ingredients, but they won’t provide any significant effect since they might be underdosed. Another big problem would be the amount of Caffeine found in Zantrex-3. Zoller Laboratories claim that 2 capsules contain about 300mg of caffeine. This came up to be a lie, back in 2005 Consumerlab.com tested Zantrex-3 and found out that the real amount was 1,223 mg of caffeine. High doses of Caffeine can cause many side effects from anxiety, insomnia, nausea, etc. We can only assume that this problem isn’t present today, and that the Caffeine content is lower per dose.
Zantrex-3 claimed to be a revolutionary weight loss supplement which would allow us to lose weight even without exercise. But after an indept look at this supplement we can only say it’s a fairly average fat burner. Based on the ingredients and doses that is the only conclusion we can provide. Still if you feel the need to try this product, go for it. With a small amount of side effects, this product might help you slim down some inches. But don’t rely on Zantrex-3 alone, a proper diet and exercise regiment are key.
We also need to mention the two options Zantrex-3 comes in. The blue and the red bottle. Without unnecessary explanations go for the blue bottle. Users have found the blue Zantrex-3 more efficient with greater results that the red one.
