Green tea is one of the most popular weight loss ingredients on the market due to its potent weight loss properties. Today’s featured product is made from this herb and is produced by an equally popular supplement company – Applied Nutrition.

Green Tea Fat Burner claims to have various benefits, one of which is the ability to boost your metabolism, which is necessary for long-term weight loss. Other benefits include increased energy levels, improved fatigue, lower risk of heart disease, and more.

But the real question would be, is Green Tea Fat Burner any different from other weight loss supplements? In this review, we will carefully inspect this fat burner, summarize the results and give you all the necessary information about this product. Just read on!

How Does Green Tea Fat Burner Work?

Green Tea Fat Burner uses many well-known ingredients that are often linked to fat burning. The key ingredient in this product is obviously Green Tea. Green Tea contains more polyphenols and flavonoids than any other natural herbal product. Polyphenols are known to boost metabolism and trigger fat burning. They also directly inhibit the excess triglycerides (formed while consuming glucose) which would usually get stored as fat in the body (1).

So by taking Green Tea Fat Burner, we can prevent the amount of fat we store in our body. Green Tea also contains epilagollatechin gallate (EGCG) which increases metabolism by up to 5%, without increasing our heart rate. EGCG helps free radicals, which are responsible for aging and fat accumulation, give orders to our brains to release fat for energy, helping speed up the whole weight loss process (2).

Green Tea Fat Burner Ingredients

At first glance, the formula looks pretty decent, featuring few well researched and effective ingredients. However, the key ingredient in this supplement is Green Tea, but it is also blended with other ingredients for better results. Unfortunately, the manufactures chose not to include the specific amount of each ingredient used, except the first two.

Nonetheless, let’s have a look at the ingredients list:

  1. Green Tea Extract (400mg) – When it comes to proven and safe ingredients, Green Tea Extract is the leader. As mentioned, Green Tea is implemented in various dietary supplements, most of them being diet pills. It is without a shadow of a doubt a great addition to anyone’s diet, especially for those who are trying to lose weight (3).
  2. Caffeine (160mg) – Is one of the most used recreational drugs, also a very common ingredient in weight loss supplements. Caffeine has been scientifically proven to help with the body’s natural thermogenic process (4). Thermogenesis has also been linked to the elevation of the resting metabolic rate, which would immensely boost weight loss. Caffeine can also potentially reduce the feeling of hunger, successfully suppressing appetite and keeping the user in the needed caloric deficit. However, Caffeine has a tendency to induce adverse effects in people who are sensitive to stimulants. Some of the side effects include insomnia, nervousness and restlessness, stomach irritation, nausea, and vomiting (5).

Antioxidant Boost Blend:

  1. Bilberry Powder – Bilberry fruit contains chemicals known as anthocyanosides, plant pigments that have excellent antioxidant properties (6). Bilberry improves vision, eliminates circulation problems, improves blood sugar levels, and even reduces the risk of cancer. Higher doses of Bilberry Powder is known to induce serious side effects, so not knowing the exact dosage provided in this fat burner is a serious concern (7).
  2. Blueberry Extract – Contains an antioxidant called anthocyanin. This antioxidant has been shown to reduce the risk of heart diseases, diabetes, and other health problems (8). One study even concluded that rats who consumed blueberries were able to burn away fat despite being given a high-fat diet, which could suggest that blueberries have protective effects against the body’s absorption of fat (9)
  3. Elderberry Powder – Is commonly used in traditional medicine. Elderberries can treat nerve pain, the flu, chronic fatigue, constipation, and fever. Unfortunately, they have no correlation to weight loss (10).
  4. Grape Skin Extract – Grapes also provide valuable antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties that may improve overall health. They also have a small impact on fat burning (11).
  5. Pomegranate Powder – This fruit has appetite-suppressing qualities and a high fiber profile. Another key benefit of Pomegranate Powder is its property to enhance one’s skin health, as it nourishes the skin and reduces signs of aging. It's also an excellent source of energy, eliminates fat and may contribute to overall well-being (12).

Vitality Boost Blend:

  1. Eleuthero Powder – Better known as Siberian Ginseng, this herb has been used for centuries in eastern medicine. Siberian Ginseng is renowned as an energy booster that aids with body revitalization. Since people generally get their energy from food, Siberian Ginseng ensures you do not feel tired or fatigued on a restrictive diet (13).
  2. Holy Basil – This extract could potentially enhance testosterone levels and libido. However, studies are still inconclusive about its properties (14).
  3. Yerba Mate – Is a natural ingredient that acts as a stimulant and is thought to boost the metabolism and increase fat burning. Although, it might cause some side effects. Side effects include nausea, vomiting, upset stomach, ringing in the ears, anxiety, insomnia, and more (15).
  4. Schisandra Powder – Used to “prolong life”, reverse the aging process, increase energy and fight fatigue. Schisandra also possesses significant protective antioxidant and anti-inflammatory abilities (16).
  5. Asian Ginseng – This plant has been used in Chinese traditional medicine for years. Some studies have linked this herb to heart health, cognitive performance, lower stress levels, and improved physical endurance (17).

Ingredients Summary

Green Tea Fat Burner does bring a few quality ingredients to the table. Some of them have actual scientific proof of their effectiveness. However, the dosages for each component of the formula are not listed on the product's label, putting the consumer at a much greater risk of side effects and inefficiency. Not to mention, the fairly high dose of Caffeine added to the formula, which could induce a number of possible adverse effects we already mentioned.
 

Conclusion

Applied Nutrition seems to be a fairly established company and the main ingredient in Green Tea Fat Burner, Green Tea Extract, has been shown to boost weight loss and energy. However, clinical evidence supporting other ingredients in the product is a bit less convincing. Not to mention the proprietary blends which hide the true quantities for each ingredient, raising a serious risk of side effects which could have fatal outcomes.

Green Tea Fat Burner definitely has lots of room for improvement. If you don’t mind the possible side effects, by all means, buy this fat burner. Just keep in mind that there are other supplement options which can provide better results without the potential negative effects.
