BooTea offer a range of detox related products, including a 14 and 28 day Teatox course, a BooTea shake and their latest product, a BooTea brownie. The BooTea website claims that more than a million customers have purchased BooTea products. The company behind BooTea is Eight Twenty Ventures Ltd, who are based in the United Kingdom. In this review, we will focus on BooTea’s most popular product, the 14 Day TeaTox.

The 14 Day TeaTox provides you with two different types of tea; a daytime detox and a bedtime cleanse. The daytime detox provides you with 14 bags (one per day), while the bedtime cleanse gives you 7 bags (one every second day). The total quantity of daytime detox provided is 35 grams, with 18 grams for the bedtime cleanse.

Daytime Detox Ingredients

Oolong Tea

Oolong tea is also commonly known as Wu-Ling Tea. Studies show that it has the incredible ability to boost the metabolism by 220% more fat than green tea.

According to several studies in China, researchers have found that people who drink 2-3 cups of Oolong tea per day, will experience weight loss at an 8% higher rate than those who drink green tea. In one study that translated to a pound of weight loss per week – from doing nothing but sipping 2 cups of Oolong tea per day!(1)

Oolong tea has the ability to encourage your body to use more fat for energy, resulting in accelerated fat burning and weight loss. (2)

Ginger Root

Ginger has the amazing ability to expand the blood vessels, which increases the body heat and so speeds up the fat burn. If that’s not enough, ginger is a great appetite suppressant and satiater. This means that, when you add ginger to your day, you will be far less likely to over eat, which will reduce needless snacking.

Ginger is also a natural cortisol suppressant. Cortisol is a dangerous hormone which is brought on by stress. When we become overly stressed, fat moves to the visceral area where it receives increased blood supply that encourages tissues to produce an excessive amounts of cortisol. High cortisol levels increase stomach fat and weight gain (3).

Ginger is also well known for its ability aid in the digestive process. This helps to regulate and assist in the movement of food through the stomach and small and large intestines. This, too, assists, in weight loss.

Panax Ginseng Root

Ginseng has been used for thousands of years in the East to boost energy levels and to stimulate the metabolism. Panax ginseng, in particular, has been linked to weight loss benefits, with one study showing, obese diabetic mice given panax ginseng extracts not only improved their insulin sensitivity but also lost a significant amount of weight after 12 days.

Ginseng will balance your metabolism. This will allow you to burn more calories 24 hours a day – even when you’re sleeping. Moreover, ginseng is the world’s greatest natural energy booster. Taking raw ginseng will give you more energy for working out, which will spur you on to burn more calories and thus lose more body fat.

A raft of recent studies have given sound scientific backing to what people around the world have known anecdotally about ginseng for centuries (4).

Fennel Seeds

Tiny as they are, fennel seeds, are packed full of valuable nutrients and contain fat burning, metabolism boosting properties. The anti spasmodic effect of fennel seeds also help to suppress hunger pangs by relaxing the stomach muscles that produce hunger sensations. This can help to take in fewer calories and lose weight (5).

Gotu Kola

Gotu kola is known as the ‘anti aging cellulite’ and ‘Botox in a bottle’. It works by acting as a facilitator of tissue healing by promoting the speed and quality of connecting tissue regeneration. It does this by enhancing the synthesis of collagen in the body.

Gotu kola contains no caffeine or other stimulant, yet it is used extensively to increase energy and vitality, as well as tackling fatigue (6).

Bedtime Cleanse

Peppermint Leaves

Peppermint leaves hep to manage food cravings and overeating. Mint’s strong scent can greatly control appetite and suppress cravings (7).

Licorice Root

Licorice root includes a compound that helps to increase the metabolism and burn more fat. This active compound is glycyrrhetinic acid, which is about 50 times sweeter than sugar. Unlike sugar, however, it does not promote an insulin response. Instead, it actually increases fat burning in the body (8).

Chickweed and Burdrock

These two powerful herbs are effective fat loss agents, but only work together. Chickweed’s job is to break down fat molecules, while the burdrock helps to transport it out of the body. Burdrock also increases fat metabolism and acts as a diuretic (9).

Ingredients Summary

The BooTea website provides a disappointingly limited amount of information regarding the details of the 14 Day Detox. There is no information regarding the ingredients or how the product actually works. Searching beyond that source, however, reveals that the 14 Day TeaTox includes a raft of ingredients that have clinical backing and will work together to promote a detox and fat loss effect.

The licorice included in the Bedtime Cleanse will have a laxative effect, so be prepared for that ahead of time. You also need to know that the detox effects of the Bedtime Cleanse has been shown to affect the effectiveness of the pregnancy pill. There have actually been reports of women on the pill getting pregnant while using this product!

All of the ingredients in the 14 Day Teatox are 100% natural and preservative free. This program is designed to be used in conjunction with a healthy diet.

BooTea’s 14 Day Teatox is a well packaged, pleasant tasting tea detox. It is packed with quality ingredients that have been scientifically shown to be beneficial as detox and fat loss agents. There are also a lot of online reviews extolling the effectiveness of this product.

There are, however, a large number of variables that combine to affect people’s ability to lose weight. It would be a mistake to hang your hopes solely on this product. If you combine this cleanse diet program with a healthy, clean diet and regular exercise, though, you should see results with this product.

Bootea ships worldwide, but it does so from it’s manufacturing base in the United Kingdom. This makes it rather expensive to ship the product to North America (half the cost again of the actual product). If you are in the other half of the world to the BooTea guys, you might want to shop around for a locally produced alternative.
